"I don't know. A lethifold seems like an all right way to die, comparatively speaking. Clean." Barty said it while he watched the bee, considering how to proceed with it. In the end he used incendio to light it on fire, then extinguished the flames before anything else could burn. Much cleaner than he could have been. He turned his attention back to Gilderoy, shrugging. "You may have to find a way to pursue things outdoors without actually having to go there."
"That wouldn't be that hard." Gilderoy spoke slow and careful, trying to contain how he felt about what just happened... did he just set a bee on fire? Why? He -- It was still alive? Crikey, that must have stung. Why not just smush him? Well. Cleaner. He supposed.
"Well. Yes. I-- erm, God." What did he even say now? "Well, you are getting good at your spells, aren't you?"
"You wanted it gone," Barty said with a shrug, moving one leg over the bench so he could straddle it and face Gilderoy easier, catching his eyes. Now, for the first time since this conversation had begun, Gilderoy had his full focus. He did like making him squirm. His tongue briefly flicked out, touching the corner of his lips before he spoke, with just the hint of a smile. "Be careful what you wish for."
He reached out, putting a hand on Gilderoy's shoulder. "You have no idea how good I am."
"... Well, I've heard bloody marvellous things so well done you. Very well done." Oh God, he was looking right at him and doing that tongue thing. He hated when he did that. He preferred indifferent Barty that sat there as he talked, barely nodding along. This was full attention Barty - he looked like a hungry snake!
"We've both been studying hard this year but I'm sure Ravenclaw won't come close to beating Slytherin this year." He liked to ramble. If he kept talking, Barty couldn't say anything scary so there. "I feel like it's your year so it's going to be wonderful to see how that all turns out."
"Marvelous," Barty agreed and he could have just let go of Gilderoy again. Where was the fun in that though? Instead he moved his hand to cup the side of his face. A strange gesture, maybe, but Gilderoy was so very proud of his face. Barty took the time to study it. He had a handsome face. He felt an edge was missing to make him truly beautiful, but he could see it. He was very nice to look at. "I'll see you after Christmas then."
Gilderoy let out an odd laugh and then tried his best to shift Barty's focus from his beautiful, precious face onto something else. "Well, I'm sure you're busy. Look, your book is only half done! I'll leave you to it. Wonderful chat as always, Bartemius. See you after Christmas. I'll bring you back a present!"
Why? Why would he do that? Great, now he had to get a present. Swiftly standing up, he grinned and laughed as he hastily backed off.
