"I didn't think you were mean. You gave me chocolate. Anyone who gives me chocolate can't be a jerk, right?" Remus smiled softly and tugged at the sleeve of his jumper to adjust it, trying to work out the right things to do or say. What did cool kids do? How honest should he be? Did he look dorky? He didn't know these things!
"My dad is a wizard and my mom works in an office. She's a muggle but she knows all about magic." So yeah - half blood.
"I dunno if my dad's side of the family has anyone famous but he never told me." So yeah, pretty average.
"She's a muggle?!" Sirius had kind of suspected that much, but it was different that now he had it confirmed. He had sooo many questions. "Do you have pictures? Ones that don't move?" How exciting. He was bouncing a little, even as he broke off another piece of chocolate. "What's a telly and why do people get stuck to it? What do you think brooms are for? Ohhh, do you know quidditch?!"
"We have pictures that don't mover and some that do. It's a mixed house so we're all over the place. A telly is just like... I dunno, a box I watch? And people aren't trapped, they're actors." He wasn't sure how to explain a TV. He didn't know himself. It was just something he tuned into when he was bored - he suspected his dad was more fascinated than he was. "Brooms are for sweeping." He paused a beat before grinning. "And flying, I know that one."
He paused and then frowned, head tilted to the side. "Quidditch?"
"MERLIN'S BEARD!" Sirius exclaimed it suddenly, bouncing on the bed even more than before and kicking the curtain to get the attention of the boys inside. "James, Peter, he doesn't know quidditch!"
How could he not know quidditch? How had he survived so far? Sirius saw his moment, his mission and he was desperate to seize it. "Quidditch is the best thing in the world. It's a game! It's..." Where did he even start? He was so excited. "You fly around like whoosh!"
He moved his arms around wildly. "And there are balls! Whoosh!"
"There is a LOT of whoosh!" James informed Remus as he came out of nowhere, bouncing on the bed and shoving Sirius along. "It's really cool, I'm going to join the team first chance I get. I bet I'll be amazing at it." Turning his head back, James grinned at Peter and gestured for him to come over. Well, he didn't want his new friend feeling left out.
Remus nodded along, a little thrown but he liked this a lot. They were friend and it was all so easy. Talking to them was just simple - it was what it was.
"How would I play it then?" Remus still didn't get it. He just knew it had flying and whooshing. "I've only ever seen the footie." That was as far as he got into sports.
"What's the footie?" Peter asked, while struggling to get his own footies... er, feet on the bed. Sirius helpfully offered him a hand and pulled him up then tried to figure out whether the footie thing was more important than explaining quidditch. Hard to say. "You play it on brooms. There is a keeper and there are chasers and beaters and the seeker, he's the most important."
He nodded his head, while Peter looked at his feet. He was trying to figure this out.
"Footie is football. You know? It's like... you kick a ball and you score, there's a team. My mom supports Liverpool." She always yelled at the TV when they watched matches while he and dad watched, confused and curious. "It's not that exciting, it's all right but it doesn't sound as cool as quidditch. You really play it on brooms?"
"Oh yeah, you gotta. It's all in the air. It's crazy. The pro games are brutal." James bounced a little, grinning. "I dunno if I've ever heard of footie before."

"It's the most popular muggle sport."
